Tom Mulisa

Executive Director

Dr. Tom Mulisa is a respected Lecturer of Constitutional, Human Rights, and Governance Law at the University of Rwanda. Holding a PhD in Comparative Constitutional Law from Uppsala University and an LLM in Human Rights and Democratisation from the University of Pretoria, he's a seasoned researcher and lecturer in Sexual Reproductive Health Law. Dr. Mulisa's roles extend to being the Founder and Executive Director of GLIHD, focusing on Public Interest Litigation and Human Rights Advocacy. Engaged in various committees and organizations, including SOWARS and the Global Fund for Women, he actively contributes to capacity building for CSOs in Rwanda.

Vestine Umulisa

Deputy Executive Director

Advocate Vestine Umulisa has over 8 years of legal expertise as a registered lawyer with the Rwanda Bar Association. She currently serves as the Deputy Executive Director at the Great Lakes Initiative for Human Rights and Development. Passionate about advocating for justice and equality, Umulisa extends her skills to champion women's rights. Her commitment to fostering positive change is evident through her role in the organization. With a formidable background in law and a dedicated stance as a women's rights activist, she contributes significantly to advancing human rights and empowering marginalized communities in the pursuit of a more equitable society.

John Scarius

Director of Programs

John, a lawyer from the Dullah Omar Institute and National University of Rwanda, specializes in Human Rights Law, particularly in Environmental Justice and Public Interest Litigation. With over eight years of experience, he excels in research, capacity building, and grants management. His career spans both civil society and government roles, showcasing his commitment to human rights advancement. John's advocacy extends to shadow reports for Human Rights Treaty Bodies, demonstrating his dedication to monitoring and reporting.

Mr. Patrick, a committed professional with expertise in International Economics, boasts over 6 years of experience in project management, research, and business advisory consultancy services. He has worked extensively with both local and international non-government organizations, both as a full-time staff member and as a consultant. His career interests encompass research, capacity building, partnership building, and results-based monitoring and evaluation.

Donah Mbabazi

Advocacy and Communications Associate

Mbabazi, an experienced writer and editor for nearly a decade, excels in crafting compelling narratives. Transitioning into communication two years ago, she adeptly conveys messages with clarity and impact. Providing writing consultancy services for four years, she enhances communication for individuals and organizations. Mbabazi's versatile skill set and wealth of experience ensure a creative and precise approach to every project she undertakes.

Alpha Iriza

Sexual Health Associate

Alpha IRIZA is a lawyer, passionate in human right, diversity inclusion and advocacy with a bachelor’s degree in Law from Kigali Independent University. Throughout her career growth, she actively engages in providing legal aid and developing different skills on various concepts regarding human rights. She is a certified trainer on intersectionality, Gender, GBV and diversity inclusion. She also completed a special training in Evidence based Advocacy in SRHR, and she is eager to see a world where humans are protected and rights are respected.

Pitie Rasana

Legal Officer

Pitie Rasana Benedict, a lawyer educated at Kigali Independent University (ULK), specializes in intellectual property law while also providing legal aid, particularly in family and personal law matters. Renowned for meticulous legal research, he tailors counsel to clients' needs. Rasana has undergone specialized training in statelessness protection, SRHR advocacy, AI, and strategic litigation, aiming to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights. Dedicated to excellence and client advocacy, he ensures positive outcomes in every case.

Diane Uwizeye

Accountant

Diane Uwizeye, an experienced accountant with 8 years in private sector and NGO roles, holds an MBA and a Bachelor's in Finance from Kigali Independent University. She possesses theoretical understanding and practical expertise in finance, excelling in financial analysis, budgeting, and planning. With a background as a sales manager, she drove organizational efficiency and compliance with accounting principles. Uwizeye consistently enhances profitability and operational efficiency in her career.
