Legal Assistance
- GLIHD provides legal aid services in three different ways:
Mediation through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
GLIHD attends to walk-in clients and provides them with legal advice. It also encourages reconciliation where matters are settled without necessarily going to court.
Legal representation in courts of Law.
GLIHD assists its beneficiaries, especially the vulnerable, to take their cases to courts on a probono basis and represents them.
Legal education/ Awareness.
GLIHD conducts legal education sessions for its beneficiaries, this is done through training/raising awareness on different laws gazette by the government especially on human rights enshrined in the laws.

Monitoring Rights
- Under this, GLIHD engages in;
Monitoring the state of human rights
Drafting shadow/parallel/alternative reports to the state report and submit to relevant human rights bodies.
Carrying out advocacy before both regional and international human rights bodies for the consideration of the reports.

Reproductive Rights
- In line with, efforts are geared towards the increase of people’s knowledge about SRHRs including health professionals (nurses, midwives, medical doctors).
Training of different stakeholders such as media, lawyers, CSO, etc. on human rights.
Engaging local law enforcement authorities.
Addressing issues facing women in general:
Legal framework of sexual reproductive health rights and abortion (National and International Laws e.g. the mainstreaming of the Maputo protocol).

Awareness and Advocacy
- With this aspect, work is in line with challenging provisions which are restrictive in the penal code on accessing safe abortion towards the realization of women’s rights.
Decriminalization of sex workers.
Drafting position papers and submit to relevant authorities like the Parliament, Law Reform Commission, etc.

Youth Empowerment
- GLIHD provides legal aid services in three different ways:

Our legal education sessions are designed to empower individuals with knowledge of their rights. Through interactive training and awareness-raising, we equip our beneficiaries with a deeper understanding of the laws governing human rights. By focusing on the laws gazetted by the government, we aim to enhance legal literacy and promote a culture of respect for human rights. Our goal is to build a more informed and empowered community.
